Have a beautiful weekend and a few lovely links:

Friday 18 January 2013

This morning I was sitting with my computer in front of me, the latest issue of Vogue beside me and my inspiration board leaning against the wall behind my laptop.. Looking over the images and reading the quotes I have seen and read a million times before to find some form of inspiration I started thinking to myself with the first month of 2013 nearly coming to an end - Where do I want to be at the end of it and what do I want to actually do this year? Yes you maybe thinking, didn't you come up with new years resolutions at the start of the year? Well I have now decided that I am going to come up with resolutions when something happens in my life and I need one to stay focused and motivated.

The following quotes "The only limits in your life are the ones that you set yourself" and "What would you attempt if you knew you couldn't fail?" have stuck with me ever since I laid my eyes upon them and I constantly find myself repeating them over and over again to myself. The limits that you do set yourself are the only ones that are preventing you from going out and doing whatever it is either spontaneously or something you have always wanted to do - Such as that cooking class, or drawing class or well we will throw it in for good measure sky diving. It may be the fear of failing that at the end of the day is making you create these limitations for yourself but this is when you ask yourself "What would you attempt if you knew you couldn't fail? What would you give a try? Maybe that opportunity to go overseas and work, or the chance to study something that you are truly passionate about, perhaps you want to do something crazy like: I don't know swim with sharks! I have made it a objective to go out of my way to live by these quotes, to instead of doubting myself and limiting myself to the endless possibilities of what I could be achieving: Instead I am going to embrace myself and think outside of the boundaries I have created. At some point we will fail something but would you prefer to hold back and never know or jump right in and give it a shot? If you find yourself living in the restrictions that you have created by yourself or you are fearing the idea of failing when wanting to try something new - Repeat these quotes and go for it. I know I am now giving it a shot and opening my arms to whatever happens.

In the past year or so I have started to see the true beauty of the world around me, from the smallest of details - the shape of clouds, the smell of flowers blooming or such things as architecture, art and the culture that surrounds us in every day life. In the world we live in today it is hard to stop and appreciate the beauty that lays before us as we are constantly involved in something that seems to be bigger then the world we live in. There is nothing that I want more to be able to travel the globe, seeing the sights, breathing in the different air, experiencing the cultures and well appreciating every thing that I come across whether tiny or incredibly pronounced. That is why I have taken the initiative to take my camera where ever I go from here on in; so I can capture the parts of life that inspire and I love.
