Fashion: Editorial | "Due East" Vogue Australia March 2013

Thursday 14 February 2013

Stylist and Fashion editor of Vogue Australia - Christine Centenera takes on the heavily east inspired trend sweeping the runways this season for the "Due East" editorial featuring in the big fashion issue for March 2013. Kendra Spears from next modelling agency is ornately dressed in origami folds and gorgeous kimono inspired shapes, lensed by Benny Horne the true Asian influences and aurora come alive within these images.

I am simply head over heels in love with the simplicity of the styling, makeup and hair within this editorial - however there is something utterly ornate about the pieces selected. Whether embellished, folded in gorgeous shapes that one would think that paper could only form into or luxurious fabrics in rich hues. It all adds to the eastern influences of opulence back when the emperors ruled and opulence was the only way.

  1. Kimonos are so lovely, delicate and pretty - I can definitely see the design inspirations stemming from them but these designs are so constructed and bold. The comparison is unique, and I think this designer has something good going!

    1. They are simply gorgeous, I think what makes this editorial so bold yet beautiful is the fact that it is such a juxtapose between the femininity of the kimonos and the strong structure of the origami folds represented within several pieces.
