Chanel's Pre-Spring/Summer 2014 collection took place in a former nutmeg plantation in the heart of Singapore - A collection influenced heavily by its Asian surroundings however it also went to the heart of the houses heritage especially referencing highly to Gabrielle Chanel's first store in Deauville (The 100th anniversary celebration can be seen here Once Upon A Time a Film by Karl Lagerfeld) Concrete floors and stark white walls set the mood for a romantic charm within the show.  

Two coordinating pieces opened the show - dresses over wide leg trousers, then followed by British sportsmanship that was 

completed with bats, v-neck jumpers and shin guards. Setting the tone for the following looks that waltzed down the catwalk. 

The likes of lace playsuits, delicately pleated silk dresses, dual length skirts all 

glided down the runway - 50's music played subtly in the background adding not only 

a even more holiday-esqe feeling but such an ease to the new silhouettes which
were relaxed in ways but of course highly luxe, elegant and rendered from white leathers and tulle. 

A nod to Chanel's history was plentiful throughout this collection however attentively designed in a subtle manner by Lagerfeld. A combination of lady like elegance with Lad like tailoring, menswear inspired fabric all reminiscent of Boy Capel. Pearls were plentiful, draped around the neck, wrapped around the waist and layered around the wrist. Eveningwear came in the likes of sequins, exaggerated appliqués, tulle and latex looking lace.

Yet again I am in love, Chanel never fails to leave me impressed and in sheer awe.

MBFWA: Alex Perry Spring/Summer 2013/2014

The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia in Sydney has started with a BANG! The first day consisting of We Are Handsome, Aurelio Costarella, one of my favourite brands Bec & Bridge, Camilla & Marc, Romance Was Born and of course red carpet designer royalty Alex Perry.

The backdrop was the loading docks at Carriageworks when the sun is at its highest in the Australian sky and no doubly Alex Perry did not fail to impress - Show stopping gowns, gorgeously appliquéd French lace and what Mr Perry never ceases to bring to the collections embellished evening wear and bridal dresses. However something a little new for Mr Perry a younger women is in his sights, as a young Hollywood starlet Phoebe Tonkin said "All the lengths are short-about mid length - and I want to wear it all." The shorter hemlines resulted in showing plenty of skin and the ultra sultry knee high boot especially made by Tony Bianco for the show (now available for pre order on Tony Bianco's website)

Perry's Spring/Summer 2013/14 collection had plenty to lust over - affectionate baby doll dresses in an array of silk and lace. Some dresses even had the signature Perry corsetry to amplify the detail and shape of the dress even more. An array of hues was amongst the stimulating youthful collection - Bright yellows, bold blacks, stark whites, splashes of metallic shine and neutral nudes. I can say that I want to have the chance to wear EVERYTHING from this collection: Ready to wear pieces to the most exquisite of red carpet worthy gowns. Metallic silver shorts that can be worn with a crisp white peplum jacket, black skinny trousers teamed with a simple black scooped neck singlet, white lace long sleeved crop with black detailing put together with a black high waisted skater skirt and finished with thigh high lace up nude Tony Bianco shoes and I can't forget to mention the gowns! An exposed zipper against a bold black dress with an almost leather looking top half and a split that comes creeping up the thigh of the model, black lace against a sheer panel exposing the chest of the model and a thigh split that lets the material move at ease as she struts down the catwalk or how about the white lace long sleeved evening gown with a gorgeous contrast of black and yellow. I could go on and on about how much I just love this collection, it is by far one of my all time favourite Alex Perry collections - With that said I applaud you Mr Perry and I am beyond excited to see what the rest of MBFWA has install! 

Fashion: Runway | Dolce & Gabbana RTW Fall 2013

Inspired by non other then the golden mosaics of Sicily's Cathedral of Monreale - Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have yet again created a collection that truly captures the essence of Italy and its culture. A sense of a romanticised view upon the Catholic church can be seen throughout yet leaving everyone with compelling thoughts regarding the collection in terms of fashion. Menswear inspired materials such as herringbones and checks made for a brief appearance within the show being seen on skirt suits, coats and a pair of bloomers. However we saw what we all know and love Dolce & Gabbana for - Dresses that are reminiscent of altar boys garments with wide sleeves cut in fine laces, a bustier crafted from altar-chalice gold, garments covered in what appears to be mosaic tiles, heavily embellished dresses, skirts, tops, bags and shoes that are just truly wow worthy and I can not forget the royal like crowns that sat pretty above the romantic chignons. Of course everything is in the detail which can be seen throughout if you look closely - From the religious figures created from jewels set upon the heels of shoes, or delicately placed on clutches or the dazzling rosaries that hung gracefully around the necks. All I can say is an amen to Dolce & Gabbana, they never fail to impress me: To leave me sitting in front of my computer repeatedly saying ohhhh, wow, perfect or simply leaving me completely and utterly breathless. They have done it once again.
