Runway: Chanel Pre-Spring/Summer 2014

Monday, 13 May 2013

Chanel's Pre-Spring/Summer 2014 collection took place in a former nutmeg plantation in the heart of Singapore - A collection influenced heavily by its Asian surroundings however it also went to the heart of the houses heritage especially referencing highly to Gabrielle Chanel's first store in Deauville (The 100th anniversary celebration can be seen here Once Upon A Time a Film by Karl Lagerfeld) Concrete floors and stark white walls set the mood for a romantic charm within the show.

Two coordinating pieces opened the show - dresses over wide leg trousers, then followed by British sportsmanship that was
completed with bats, v-neck jumpers and shin guards. Setting the tone for the following looks that waltzed down the catwalk.
The likes of lace playsuits, delicately pleated silk dresses, dual length skirts all
glided down the runway - 50's music played subtly in the background adding not only
a even more holiday-esqe feeling but such an ease to the new silhouettes which
were relaxed in ways but of course highly luxe, elegant and rendered from white leathers and tulle.
A nod to Chanel's history was plentiful throughout this collection however attentively designed in a subtle manner by Lagerfeld. A combination of lady like elegance with Lad like tailoring, menswear inspired fabric all reminiscent of Boy Capel. Pearls were plentiful, draped around the neck, wrapped around the waist and layered around the wrist. Eveningwear came in the likes of sequins, exaggerated appliqués, tulle and latex looking lace.

Yet again I am in love, Chanel never fails to leave me impressed and in sheer awe.

"Once Upon A Time" by Karl Lagerfeld Movie Trailer

Wednesday, 1 May 2013

A teaser for Karl Lagerfeld's latest extraordinary project has been no doubly released with great anticipation - Starring Kiera Knightley and Lindsey Wixson it takes us back to Deauville (where we all know that Coco opened her second store with the help of the love of her life Boy Capel) in 1913. Old cars, gorgeous outfits, classic hairstyles, whimsical classical music and the fact that it is filmed in black and white by the genius Karl Lagerfeld has me swooning over this film and I can not wait until the full movie is released in a week! Karl Lagerfeld truly never fails to impress me and yet again he has shown what a creative genius he is!

"Once Upon A Time" will be released on the 8th of May!

P.S I have some big plans for this blog and I am coming up with a lot of new ideas so stay tuned! I hope you like what I have install!

Fashion: Ad Campaigns | Alice Dellal for Chanel's Boy Bag 2013 Campaign

Tuesday, 12 March 2013

The latest campaign for Chanel's iconic boy bag drew inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel's love for horses who she of course shared this passion with which some say was the love of her life Arthur Capel - Or what others called him "Boy", ironic I think not!

Alice Dellal is one that has had a long standing relationship with the Boy bag previously starring in the 2012 campaign and constantly being snapped at fashion shows with it draped over her shoulders. Pouting her way through this black and white romantic tale full of an array of the classic Boy bag.

I am a sucker for black and white photography, throw in simplistic, classic styling and by far one of my favourite bags and you have won my heart over just like that - I can assure you this campaign has me swooning over this bag more then ever.
