"Fashion House" by Megan Hess

Saturday 15 June 2013

As some of you remember I recently did a post in regards to Fashion Illustrator, Megan Hess's gorgeous converted church home and in that I was beyond excited for the release of her new book "Fashion House." I finally purchased it from David Jones and well I am in LOVE! You all know how much I love Megan's illustrations and my infatuation for interior design in indescribable so combine the two and it is a matched made in heaven! (Did I mention that she is Australian! *swoons even more*)

Not only giving you stunning illustrations but Fashion house also dives deep into advice on essential pieces that Megan herself believes every house needs for ultimate interior accessories to fully complete the said room.

Explaining that for the years that she has been illustrating her passion for illustrating a Chanel dress or Dior coat has never wavered - But something that has crept in are interiors that are no surprise as stunning as the clothes that one wears. A chair first appears beside an ultra chic woman and then little by little interiors were being created; from lamps, side tables, elegant sofas and cascading drapes. Her passion all comes together within these pages and is especially seen with "Rooms to swoon over" Seen are some of the most awe inspiring rooms and it all is a truly imaginary world. Megan states that she loves to imagine how certain people inhabit their own personal space from where they prefer to eat, sleep, what furniture they choose or how to decorate a particular room. Conjuring up people, families or couples late at night; Megan created a numerous amount of chic people and their lifestyles. Depicting where they live, their loves, what they loathe, their dreams and what they eat - She then creates their world, from how they dress, the furniture they sit on, to the wall out that hangs on decadent wallpaper or what books sit upon their coffee table. It does not stop there however because if you feel as if you love and can relate to this said person, Megan then tells you how to "Get the look," spread across two pages are illustrations and captions of what you would need to create a dwelling such as Ed and Peter Holt's distinguished lobby or Vanessa Pomp's Paris Salon.

"The Fashion Set" is a collection of illustrations from the icons of style - Queue such people as Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Tom Ford, Diane Von Furstenberg, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly. The same principles apply as "Rooms to swoon over" with Megan exploring their lifestyle through her imagination from the place they live, their loves, what they loathe, their dreams and where they shop. Creating their world encompasses the designer or persons style remarkably well and for me personally I could instantly look at one of the illustrations and say that is this person. The persons characteristics come through so brilliantly it is magical and yet again in "Get The Look" illustrations of furniture, dresses, accessories or even colour palettes that reflect that particular room are displayed.

Sitting oh so pretty on top of my bookcase!
