Air Time - Vogue Australia May 2013

Wednesday 17 April 2013

The swinging sixties where bee hives or chignons were seen, the hems of skirts rose to lengths that were never dared to be tried before and the Beatles were on repeat. Style icons were in the form of Twiggy and Audrey Hepburn, people went to the cinema to see such classics as Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Sound of Music. A decade where the world also saw changes in racism and sexism. It was no doubly a decade that I would have loved to live in and this editorial in Vogue Australia May 2013 "Air Time" truly sent me through the air of time and landed me in the glorious decade of the 60's.

An editorial bursting at the seams with 60's inspired shapes that have been reworked for todays modern women - From the oh so "mod" colour palette of black and white to pops of pink, or a sleeveless shift dress perhaps? How about a simple but very elegant a-line shift? A reinvention of the classic bell bottom pants into a modern day jumpsuit by non other than Louis Vuitton, a colour swing coat in a hue that is reminiscent of that stunning pink Chanel suit Jacqueline Kennedy wore in 1963. This editorial has me wanting to jump into the pages and lap up the 60's vibe for myself - Every little detail has authenticated the ambiance one should experience while looking at pictures directed to a certain era. The clothes, hair, makeup, props, the incredibly girly model and even the colouring of the photos makes my heart flutter at how on point it all is *sighs*
